Dal Khalsa, a Punjab-based “pro-Khalistan” party has paid rich tributes to Muhammad Afzal Guru on his fourth death anniversary.

In a press statement issued by party spokesperson, Kanwal Pal Singh, the party has maintained that Afzal Guru is a “Martyr” who was secretly hanged by Indian state four years ago.

“The hanging of Kashimiri Nationalist Jenab Afzal Guru is an indelible stain on India’s democracy,” the statement reads.

Slamming the Indian judicial system and political leaders for denying Afzal’s mortal remains to his family members, Dal Khalsa leader, H S Dhami said, “The entire verdict was based on circumstantial evidence and Guru was hanged on basis of post-facto sentiments.”

Adding to it, he said, “Guru was a blessed person whose sacrifice would stand tall in the annals of history as a symbol of resistance against Indian repression.”
