Fateha of late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, former Chief Minister of J&K, is scheduled to be held on Sunday at the Dara Shikoh garden here.

All the necessary arrangement for the guests who are expected to arrive has been done, said a top district official.

Besides family members of Mufti and partisans of Peoples Democratic Party, number of people in the political range, from state and union government are expected to attend the function. Congress chairperson Sonia Ghandhi will also visit to pay her condolences.

Earlier in the day top officials including DG police, K Rajendra, IGP Kashmir, SJM Geelani and Director SSG (Special security Guard) Afad-Ul-Mujtaba, besides others visited Dara Shikoh garden to take review of security arrangements.

A top official in the police department said that security at the venue has been tightened. “One team of SSG and police has been deployed, besides three companies of CRPF,” he informed.

Meanwhile, at the venue were also present PDP senior party members Ab Rehman Veeri and Abdul Haq khan, who took stock of the arrangements.

Separate tents have been placed for VIPs and Media and the other people who are expected to be present at Dara Shikoh garden to attend Chahrum of late Mufti.

According to the family members of late CM, there will be recitation of Quran and special prayers in respect of Mufti Sayeed. The prayers will start at 11 AM and will last for the day.

Mufti Sayeed breathed his last at AIIMS on Thursday around 7:30 AM and was buried in the same garden that late evening.

If sources are to be believed, Mufti’s memorial will also be built in near future in the garden.
