J&K government has taken unprecedented measures in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district as separatist ‘united’ Hurriyat Conference has called for “Islamabad Chalo” on Monday.

Local reports said that DC, SSP Islamabad and DIG South Kashmir have reached and are stationed in Lal Chowk Islamabad this time while there has been heavy deployment of forces today.

Kashmir is witnessing civil uprising since July 09, 2016, a day after popular militant commander Burhan Wani was killed by forces in Kokernag area of South Kashmir.

South Kashmir has been epicentre of mass protests which witnessed killings of over 52 civilians across Kashmir in last 17 days of government enforced curfew.

The “united” Hurriyat Conference issued protest calendars and asked people to “be steadfast in resolve to get freedom”. In one of the protest schedules, the resistance leadership had called for “Islamabad Chalo” today to “pay tributes to martyrs and express sympathy with the local people of the area”.

“There is no movement of civilians at all in the area,” correspondent reports said. “There is additional deployment of troops at check points in and across Islamabad today.”

The reports said that even regular army is manning streets at some places.

“Even there are reports of Ambulances being stopped and they were sent back to district hospital Islamabad,” the repost claimed.
