SRINAGAR

All doctors and para medic staff at sub district hospital Bijbehara held a protest on Saturday who demand action against the alleged highhandedness of a local police officer and accused him of beating the staff.

A doctor from Bijbehara hospital informed Kashmir Life, “One youth was critically injured on Friday and we referred him to Srinagar. But the local station police officer took the ambulance to police station and didn’t allow them to move for more than 1.30 hours and it delayed his treatment.”

Doctor also alleged same officer of beating up hospital staff and ransacking the hospital trice in last month. “We demanded his transfer earlier as well but nobody took any action. Now we were forced to take this extreme step,” said the doctor.

After protesting for two hours, doctors resumed their work, saying that they don’t want patients to suffer.

The SHO is also accused of beating an 80-year-old woman in the area. But no senior police officer was available to talk over this issue.
