All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani on Monday termed shifting of under-trail detainees outside Kashmir as “worst example of state-terrorism”.

“PDP-BJP coalition government are frustrated by the current mass uprising and now they are targeting the whole populace for this. Puppet government in valley has crossed all its inhuman and brutal tactics to suppress them. Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a brute and criminal face of the Indian state in the past 100 days and now they have started shifting of under trail detainees to outside valley,” the Hurriyat Conference said in statement issued this evening.

The statement informed that Hakim Showkat Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad Paul, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Bashir Ahmad Najar, Abdul Hamid Mir, Aaqib Ahmad Mir were shifted to Poonch and Rajouri jails.

Hurriyat Conference secretary general (III) Masarat Aalam Bhat was also shifted to Kathua jail, the statement said.

“This shifting (of detainees) doesn’t have any justification and this action is out of political vengeance,” Geelani Hurriyat Conference asserted.

“Supreme Court of India has passed a ruling that a detainee should be held in a jail nearest to his home and an under-trial should never be shifted to any other place, because he can’t reach to every hearing of the court which will prolong his detention,” the Hurriyat Conference observed.

Strongly condemning the use of Public Safety Act (PSA) like ‘black’ law against common people, the Hurriyat Conference said that this law has been termed as ‘Lawless Law’ by Amnesty International, an international rights watch dog, while as world bodies have rejected the prolonged imprisonment of any person in the name of “preventive” custody.

“But this draconian law is very commonly used in Jammu and Kashmir to curb the genuine voices of the people. Neither any trail is held against them nor any proper reason is given for their detention,” the statement said.

It added that Hurriyat Conference appeals the world community that they should raise their voice against the unabated use of PSA by Jammu and Kashmir government.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani offered his deep condolences on the demise of sister of Masarat Aalam Bhat, mother of Mohammad Ashraf Qureshi and Mohammad Amin Qureshi of Lal bazaar and Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Soitang.

While sympathizing with grieved families, Geelani said, “we equally share the grief and sorrow of the grieved families. Death is a bitter reality and everybody has to face it, however, the believer is known for his patience and steadfastness.”
