A massive crackdown has been launched in North Kashmir’s Baramulla on early Monday morning.

Locals said that such a crackdown is “first time” in last fifteen years. “Not hundreds, but thousands of men in uniform raided Old town around 5 AM,” a local said.

Reports and local sources said that the two bridges leading to Old Town in Baramulla have been blocked by forces and no one is allowed to move in or leave the town.

“Old town is completely sieged,” a local informed, “forces personnel from police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles are holding house to house search operations.”

The sources said that raid has been conducted to “nab pro-freedom activists who have been holding freedom rallies in the area for last three months.”

“In last 100 days,” the local said, “forces would not enter Old Town.” “Whenever there were clashes, they would come and leave instantly but today, they have moved in to each alley.”

The search operation is going while this report is  being published.
