The personal secretary of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson, Sofi Fehmeeda, was Wednesday sent to Baramulla Sub Jail under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA).

In a statement issued here, a DeM spokesperson said that Fehmeeda was yesterday produced for judicial remand after 14 days of detention in Rambagh Police station and was today shifted to Baramulla sub-jail under the PSA.

The DeM spokesperson said, “Mehbooba, despite being a women has unleashed police to arrest and detain women under notorious PSA. This is utterly shameful.”

Meanwhile, the DeM secretary general termed the PSA on Fehmeeda a sheer “political vengeance”.

Nagpur ki Nagin, Mehbooba Mufti, wants to shrink the political space of the courageous and brave pro-freedom women. This is political vendetta as she knows her worth among the people,” the DeM said.

“The women of Kashmir since 1947 have been an inalienable element of Kashmir’s resistance movement. The courageous women of Kashmir have always stood upright with men in every phase of the struggle whether it was political or armed. Breaking rigid socio-cultural constructs, they came out of their houses and, eventually, their number rose to thousands. Today, the women resistance has become a full-fledged and well organised social movement. It has made a careful analysis of the disputed political context of Kashmir and has set an agenda based on its diagnosis of the Kashmir’s political problem,” the DeM said.

“Despite 103 days of unstoppable current resistance movement, the people of Kashmir including women are sacrificing their everything to fight against the oppression and suppression unleashed by the Indian occupational structures including, local puppets and the brutal the Jammu and Kashmir police. People as old as 80 years old and 10 years young have been killed arrested blinded and maimed,” it added.

The DeM paid rich tributes to the people “who have been at the forefront of this present uprising against the India and saluted their valour and courage”.

Meanwhile, the DeM secretary general, Nahida Nasreen said that the arrest of eleven members of a family including women in Kralkund area of north of Kashmir’s Kupwara district is a shameful act of the present regime led by “the Nagin of Nagpur Mehbooba Mufti”. “This is one of the darkest incidents in the history of Kashmir and a blot on Mehbooba.”

“This arrogant lady on one hand wants students to appear for exams and on the other hand has unleashed her police to arrest the people, including school going children en masse. We want to ask her who will appear for Junaid’s exam? What about those who were blinded and maimed by you? What about those with whose blood your hands are red?” the statement said.

Nasreen also condemned the slapping of PSA of a father child duo in Baramulla district.
