Hurriyat Conference (m) Thursday lashed out at the “anti-Kashmir” ruling regime’s dictatorial decision to sack around 20 state employees at will as a punishment for their political views and “create an environment” of intimidation and retribution.

“There are no limits that this regime hasn’t crossed to harass and cause grief to people of Kashmir, be it to the  youth women children the elderly the old by killing maiming blinding arresting detaining beating ransacking curbing restricting gagging censoring banning and others repressive means,” the Hurriyat Conference said in a statement this evening.

“At this point as the nation stands with these victims of state vengeance and extends support to them, all state employees of all levels, particularly at the senior level should stand up for their colleagues and take collective action against this totalitarian  and revengeful measure. Otherwise it is only a matter of time before many more will be ‘taken to task’,” the statement added. “In this  extremely trying and difficult time for the people of Kashmir against whom the ruling regime is at war, we have no choice but to raise our voice collectively and with determination at all fronts and against all kinds of assaults ,having faith in the justness of our  cause and in the justice of almighty Allah.”

Terming the restrictions placed on peaceful rallies called by the unified resistance leadership in Sopore, Pulwama and Budgam and brutal and ruthless use of force, tear gas shelling and pellet firing on the peaceful protestors as highly condemnable, the conglomerate said dozens of youth had been critically injured while more than 250 arrested during the past 24 hours.

“The government forces were carrying gruesome rights violations to break the will of the people who had shown unflinching consistency and resolve to carry the on-going resistance movement forward and added that such tactics would fail to bear results for the government,” the statement said.

Thanking the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for adopting the Ankara Declaration reaffirming support for the right to self-determination of Kashmiris as per the United Nations Security Council resolutions, and for deciding to send a United Nations Fact Finding Mission to Kashmir, the amalgam expressed gratitude to the member states of the OIC for their support and said that it “expects them to do much more”.

Appreciating and acknowledging Kashmiri journalists for their courage and professional uprightness despite facing all kinds of harassment at the hands of the government, the Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned banning publication and circulation of newspapers and in the latest example of “state oppression” on the media, harassing and interrogating the editor of the news portal, JandKNow.com.
