J&K Bar Association Srinagar on Sunday said that its three-member team visited Old Barzulla, where during the intervening night of 22/23 October, 2016, the police, SOG and CRPF personnel had “run amok” and who after cordoning of the entire area and conducting searches of various houses, arrested 13 persons and “caused extensive damage” to the houses of Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Amin Sheikh, Mohammad Shafi Dar, Ex-Bank Manager, Ghulam Rasool Wani, Ghulam Mohammad Ganai, Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, Mohammad Abass Zargar and Gulla Mir and to their household.
“While breaking open the door of house of Fayaz Ahmad Dar the forces, as was told by the inmates of the house, they used axes and entered the house forcibly,” a statement issued by the Bar said early today. “They arrested his two sons Mashood Fayaz and Amir Fayaz, a 10th class student, who were sleeping and while dragging them out they also broke window panes and a TV set.”
For entering the house of Mohammad Amin Sheikh, as was stated by him, the forces used the same method and after arresting his 12-year-old son, Mohammad Irshad Sheikh, who was also sleeping on the third storey, “they dragged him out and also broke window panes of his houses, and also threw out his household including the utensils”.

The forces also gate crashed the house of Mohammad Shafi Dar, an Ex-Bank Manager, aged about 66 years and besides damaging his vehicle parked outside, “they also took away Rs 3000” which had been kept by his son underneath his bedding.
“The armed forces wanted to arrest his son, who was not at home, therefore, they arrested Mohammad Shafi Dar, his father and took him with them,” the Bar statement added.
The forces also entered the house of Ghulam Rasool Wani, as was told by his widow Zeba and “damaged” a washing machine, Geysers, a TV set and numerous Show Almiras, they in the process “nearly trampled” on the children under their boots, who were asleep.
They also arrested Mohammad Shafi Wani, son of Ghulam Rasool Wani, who is father of three children and Bilal Ahmad and Reyaz Ahmad of Nagam who had come to the house as guests the previous day.
They also entered the house of Manzoor Ahmad Ganai and according to him, besides ransacking his belonging also caused damage to a Fridge, a Geyser and also “broke open his locker and took away Rs 15000 kept therein”.
The forces also entered the house of Mohammad Abass Zargar and arrested his son, Danish.

“They threw away the clothes and wearing apparels of his daughter, and took away all her golden ornaments, which her family had arranged for her marriage, which is going to take place after sometime,” the statement informed.
“The forces also entered the house of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a painter and besides beating him took him in a naked condition in the police station Rajbagh and detained him there. His family members had gone to the police station with clothes, but they were not allowed to meet him or give him the clothes.”
The inhabitants of Barzulla told the Bar team that they were not allowed to go for morning prayers and even the Masjid was locked by the forces.
They said that on Friday they had taken out a peaceful procession, “which perhaps irritated” the police force and resultantly the area was cordoned off, during the intervening night of 22/23rd of October, 2016 and besides beating the people ruthlessly, 13 persons were arrested and the property worth Crores of rupees was damaged.
The statement said that the Bar Association condemns the aforesaid “atrocious act of the ruthless forces” and asked for an independent probe, to find out as to why the innocents were beaten and as to why their houses were ransacked and property worth Crores was damaged and gold ornaments etc “was stolen” from their houses by the forces.
Meanwhile, Bar Association condemned the arrest of Dr Nayeem Geelani, who instead of being allowed to meet his ailing father, was arrested by the police and lodged in police station Humhama.
The Bar also expressed its concern over the ailing health of Mohammad Yasin Malik who is under custody since July 9, 2016, and on account of having undergone various surgeries in the past, needed constant medical care which was “denied” to him by the jail authorities, as a result of which, his health deteriorated, forcing the authorities to take him to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, for necessary treatment.
