A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, Nitin Subhash, was killed in cross-border firing in Macchil sector along the Line of Control.

Reports said that on Saturday morning, the rival armies on LoC resorted to heavy shelling targeting military facilities on the either side on the boundary.

They added that the Pakistani Rangers allegedly targeted such installations in Hiranagar sector and R S Pura in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Shelling and firing exchanges are still going on in both these sectors,” reports said.

On Friday, heavy shelling and firing exchanges took place in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts and on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar and Machil sectors.

An army soldier was killed in Machil sector where the army foiled an alleged infiltration bid. The army added that a suspected militant was also killed in this operation.

The Army said the militants had mutilated the soldier’s body before withdrawing into the Pakistan side of the LoC.
