J&K Police on Thursday evening issued a statement detailing today’s situation across Kashmir. The content of statement is being reproduced here verbatim for larger public interest

The overall situation across the valley remained largely under control and peaceful. No untoward incident was reported from any party of the valley till filing of this report.

The day witnessed normal movement of people and vehicular traffic on the city roads as well as in other main towns of the valley.

Vendors in large number were seen on the streets of the city as also in the main towns of the valley with a huge number of shoppers busy in shopping at these places.

The workers of Peace Movement Party protested at press enclave Srinagar and were demanding the opening of the school in the valley.

As a precautionary measure, necessary deployment was made on some vulnerable points of the city as well as in other main towns to thwart away any untoward incident hampering normal life and disrupting the smooth flow of traffic.

Three Notorious Stone Pelters Held with Drugs In Awantipora

Police on a specific tip off arrested three notorious Stone Pelters at Kaichechkoot, under the jurisdiction of police station Awantipora while they were carrying Fuki in a truck bearing registration number JK13C/7851 in 44 fruit boxes having the weight of 3.54 quintal.

The arrested Stone Pelters/ drug peddlers were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ameen resident of Charsoo, Junaid Ahmad Bhat son of Basheer Ahmad Bhat resident of Charsoo and Tahir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Iqbal Bhat resident Charsoo.

Besides these three, two of their accomplices namely Rayees Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Larno, Awantipora and Aijaz Ahmad Kuchay son of Noor Mohammad Kuchay resident of Hajibal, Kakpora were also arrested.

In this regard a case FIR number 197/2016 under section 15/18 NDPS Act stands registered at police station Awantipora.

It is pertinent to mention here that these three drug peddlers are chronic Stone Pelters and a warrant under J&K Public safety act was issued by the authorities against one namely Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Charsoo.

He was evading his arrest since long as he was involved in four cases of rioting, arson and attack on public/government property.
