SRINAGAR

Cross-LoC bus Karvan-e-Aman on Monday resumed operations even though there was a report of cross-LoC shelling in neighbouring Poonch sector.

Informed sources said the bus that did not operate for last two weeks took a total of 35 passengers to Aman Setu, the Kaman Bridge that is defacto no-mans land. These included 22 passengers who will be going to Pak for the first time. The remaining 13 are PaK residents who are returning home.

The bus presumed operations on the Jhelum Valley Road despite the fact that rival armies shelled each others positions in Poonch sector Monday morning. Reports said the Mendhar sector continues to be in focus as Pakistani gunners attacked rival positions in this area using 120 mm and 82 mm mortars.

The sector witnessed killing of two soldiers as five others including g two army men, two women and a BSF official were injured.

Poonch and Uri sector are not very far and are separated by Haji Pir Pass.
