Intense clashes erupted in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday morning after forces raided Kaloosa area to make arrests.

Local sources said that men in uniform raided Kaloosa area of Bandipora district around 2 AM in the mid-night.

“Two persons have been arrested,” local sources said. They identified the duo as Gh Nabi Ganaie, who is an elderly man and actual name of another detained person could not be immediately identified, however, he is popular as @ Gobur in his area.

“It was only after those arrests were made that people came to know about raids following which announcements were made on Masjid loudspeakers and people came out of their beds,” sources informed.

They added that as dawn broke, protests erupted but heavy deployment of forces was made.

“Intense clashes are going on this time as forces have fired scores of tear gas shells,” the sources said. “All roads have been blocked and people are demanding release of detained persons.”
