In Srinagar, the biggest function was held at Chitti Padshahi by the Sikh community of the valley.

Since early morning Sikhs from across Valley started pouring in at Chitti Padshi Gurudwara and offered prayers.

At Gurudwaras across Kashmir, devotees could be seen offering prayers to mark the 546th birth anniversary of the Guru.

Hymns were rendered at Chithi Padshahi and other Gurudwaras to mark the occasion.

Secretary Gurduwara Praband Committee Srinagar Navtaeg Singh told Kashmir Life that Gurupurab was celebrated in all Gurduwara’s across Kashmir.”

He said that major events were held at Chatti Padshi Rainawari Srinagar, Chatti Padshi  Baramulla, also in Chatti Padshi Tral.

“A large number of Sikhs participated in the festival at Chatti Padshi Rainawari.”

Pertinently, the joint resistance leadership, which is spearheading the current uprising, called off the Lalchowk chalo march keeping in view the Gurpurab celebrations.

Earlier Sikh leaders had raised their apprehensions that the “chalo call” will affect the Gurpurab celebrations.
