The Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari Tuesday called for fast-pacing digitization of the revenue records to create an electronically accessible online repository.
The Minister was addressing officers during a meeting convened here to discuss digitization of the revenue records being done under National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP), an official spokesperson said this evening.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Special Secretary Revenue, Representatives of National Informatics Centre (NIC) and other senior officers.
The Minister directed the officers to synergize their efforts so that the process of digitization is completed within the stipulated time-frame for bringing transparency as well as easy accessibility of the records.
He said by doing so the Department would also be bringing accountability and the step would also serve as a reference portal for any person trying to access the records for personal and research purposes.
Syed Basharat Bukhari also directed for incorporating the services which have been brought under the Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA) in the portal and the server system so that the people especially those living in rural areas also get the requisite information about the services which are covered under the Act and get benefitted from it.
He said these should also be brought at the tehsil level as well so that the implementation of the Act is ensured in its true spirit besides also brining in the concept of accountability among the executing departments and agencies.
The Minister directed the NIC officers to ensure setting up of the server system required for the purpose at different districts starting from Baramulla after ensuring its security and other related things.
He said that they should maintain a close liaison with the officers of the revenue department to ensure that the records which are uploaded are without any discrepancy and can be easily accessed.
Syed Basharat Bukhari said that the step would also go a long way in ensuring the e-governance as well as ensuring the proper safeguard of the records as the state is prone to natural calamities of different kinds.
