Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad Tuesday viewed the status of availability and stocking of essential commodities in the district.

He also took stock of the agreements made for August 15, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at Sports Stadium Budgam where Chief Guest will unfurl the tri-colour and take salute on the march past.

Various contingents of J&K Police, JKAP, CRPF, Lady Police, NCC, Home Guards, Fire and Emergency and Forest Protection Force will participate in the march past.

Regarding other arrangements, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of R&B, PHE, PDD, Municipality, Information, Education and J&K Police to make all necessary arrangements at Sports Stadium Budgam.

He said the functions related to Independence Day would also be held at all Sub Divisions and Tehsils, where concerned authorities will unfurl the tri-colour and will take salute on the march past.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the officers to coordinate with the line departments in order to make the function successful. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure that all requisite arrangements are made well in advance.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed availability of ration, sanitation and medicines. It was informed by the CAPD officials that there is no shortage of rice grain, LPG, Petrol, Diesel, Atta, etc.

The CMO Budgam, while briefing the meeting, said adequate quantity of life saving drugs and essential medicines are available in all the health institutes of the district. He also said the district hospital is well equipped to cater to emergencies and carry out both major and minor surgeries.

The Deputy Commissioner called for continuing the round-the-clock efforts to provide essential services to the public. He said that all the concerned officers must rise to the occasion and continue to work in tandem for facilitating the common man in the prevailing situation. The meeting was attended by SSP Budgam and district officers of various line departments.
