SRINAGAR
Innocent people all across Kashmir Valley have been facing the wrath of Indian para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which at will is damaging property of innocent civilians across the length and breadth of Valley.
“I am not a stone-pelter but a simple business man. May I ask these CRPF ‘goons’ how come they damage the expensive billboard of my shop. These men in uniform when fail to confront stone-pelters target the shops and houses of those who have no connection with the violence,” said Abdul Rouf of Mehjoor Nagar whose shops was damaged by the ‘unbridled’ CRPF personnel on Wednesday afternoon.
“It has become a ‘pass-time’ for these CRPF men to damage the property of every civilian. The videos surfacing on social media clearly show how these unbridled Indian troopers are causing damage to the property. Either they are frustrated or have been given orders by superiors to demoralize the civilian population. They don’t know, the more they harass us, the more we hate them,” said another local from the heart of the city who added that Chief Minister Mehbooba has “utterly failed” to check these armed ‘goons’.
Since July 8, the day when popular Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani was killed in Bemdoora village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district, the CRPF personnel have damaged property worth millions.
“These CRPF men targeted almost all the Masjids and damaged windowpanes. They didn’t even spare the household of poor people. Even though people covering their windows with thick blankets didn’t help people to stop these men in uniform from damaging their property. I wonder what sort of instructions they are being given before they are deployed in any area,” lamented Nisar Ahmed from Habbakadal area of Srinagar city.
According to reports from past three weeks CRPF men have let loose a reign of terror in South, North and Central Kashmir.
“They are supposed to work under our command but unfortunately they don’t do so. They ignore our orders and act as per their will,” said a police official wishing not to be named.
A police official was too candid to admit that CRPF personnel don’t obey their orders.
“You don’t know how our officer saved three people riding on a Scooty in Srinagar city. These (CRPF) men were hell-bent to kill them when our officer intervened and confronted to these men,” he said.
From past three weeks these CRPF men have let loose a reign of terror in almost every town and village of Kashmir. They even target the houses in Srinagar.
“If this continues and if these men are not checked, we don’t think normalcy could be restored in Valley,” said Tariq Ahmed a resident of Sonigam Kulgam.
