Ten persons were injured when fresh clashes broke out in Langate area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district between forces and civilian protestors on Sunday evening.

Two civilians among the injured are critical with one carrying a bullet injury in his leg. The other has been hit by pellets. The duo has been referred to Srinagar.

Langate lawmaker, Engineer Rasheed, told Kashmir life that the forces fired on civilians “without having been provoked”.

He added that due to communication blockade he could not contact the local SP and army major for to know the ground situation.

Notably, Langate had remained calm in last 30 days during the current uprising in Kashmir triggered by killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani on July 8, 2016. However, the people had offered funeral prayers of civilians killed by forces during these days.
