After offering Maqrib prayers together at Shia stronghold of Hassanabad in old city, a Sunni-Shia marched together to Hazratbal to express solidarity with “martyrs” of Kashmir.
“The prayers were led by revered Shia cleric Agha Syed Abid who prayed for Shia-Sunni unity besides prayed for the departed souls of all the martyrs,” said a newsman covering the event.
After offering prayers, the newsman said, a unity march was taken out from Hassanbad that swelled by the time it reached Rangerstop—a bastion of Shia population.
“Around 8,000 people are part of the procession which is now on way to Hazratbal,” the newsman said.
When last checked, the march had peacefully dispersed on way to Hazratbal.
