Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti on Monday flew to Delhi apparently to have a meeting with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister, government sources said.

She is expected to return home later this evening.

“She has not been to Delhi for a long time and she may have some meetings,” a minister who normally talks to the media said. “I expect that she will fly back today only.”

The minister said he has “no knowledge” about the agenda or to whom she would meet.

Given the prevailing situation, however, it is obvious that a chief minister will meet the premier or the home minister, he said.

The minister said that the state and the Union Government leadership has remained in touch for all these days.

Asked if the chief minister would discuss the situation, the minister said it is gradually improving.

“It has started making a difference,” he said, “Today is better than yesterday and much better than the day before.”

He said the high way is being resumed for movement.

Meanwhile, as the news of CM’s Delhi trip came to fore, opposition National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took a dig at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, by saying that she has finally given up the “business as usual act”.

“So @MehboobaMufti has finally given up on her ‘business as usual’ act and rushed to Delhi instead.

“The amazing thing is that it’s taken 31 days and more than 50 deaths to finally ‘disturb’ the Chief Minister,” Omar wrote on twitter.
