Prominent Gujjar leader and MLA Kangan Main Altaf Ahmed Monday urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government to initiate talks with the Kashmir and Pakistan with regard to the Kashmir issue and in order to bring peace and stability in the region.

In a statement issued to KNS, Mian Altaf said that Kashmir is a political issue and Delhi should initiate a fresh sustained dialogue with all the stakeholders in Kashmir valley and Pakistan to find a solution to the issue and to bring peace and harmony in the state.

Mian Altaf Ahmed while criticizing the state as well as the union governments for failing to restore normalcy in Kashmir and miserably failing to put an end to the cycle of killings, said that the government should order a judicial probe by a sitting high court judge and inquire into the killings that took place during the current unrest in Kashmir.

While expressing anguish over the use of excessive force on people by forces, Mian Altaf said, “the forces should be asked to exercise maximum restraint on ground while dealing with law and order situation to avoid any human loss.”

Mian Altaf also expressed concern over the use of pellet guns on people. “There should be an end to the use of the pellet guns in valley and government should look for alternate means to deal with the protesters so that no more innocent human lives are lost,” the statement added.
