Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan Monday convened a meeting with the officers associated with implementation of flagship programme of Swachh Bharat Mission to review the progress in the state.

It was informed in the meeting that an annual Action Plan amounting to Rs 485 crore under this flagship programme for the current financial year has been approved for undertaking activities including construction of over 3 lakh individual household toilets, 1276 Common Facility Latrines and 319 Solid Liquid Waste Management Plants in the State, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The meeting was apprised that Rs 32 crore have been made available for distribution among the beneficiaries for undertaking construction of toilets in the State.

The Minister directed the officers to take expeditious measures to execute the plan and achieving the targets within the timeline.

The implementation period is initially set five years, i.e. up to 2019 the State will be made defecation-free in 2019.

The meeting was also informed that in the Islamabad district, a solid waste management plant has almost been completed and that the waste shifted here shall be transformed into a usable gas.

Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and other officers were present in the meeting.
