Terming the inaction and helplessness of the ruling class over the continuous killings and bloodshed of people “at the hands of” government forces in every nook and corner of Kashmir as shameful, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said abetted by “black draconian laws”, government forces have turned the valley into a “battlefield with target killings by spraying bullets and pellets at them”, roughing them up with tear gas shelling and cane charges, and overseeing a bloodbath with the killing of more than 58 civilians and injuries to more than 5000, hundreds of them blinded, maimed and handicapped while more than 1500 youth, resistance leaders and activists had been detained.

Pointing out that the ruling class remained “unmoved and unashamed” while people are subject to worst form of curfews restrictions curbs and human rights violations were at their peak, Mirwaiz said, “people in the old city and other districts were not allowed to offer prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar and main Masjids of their localities for weeks together.”

While stating that all that the ruling class  cared about was “staying in power and that they would go to any extent for hanging on to the chair”, he said, “if they had cared about people, they would have realised how they were instrumental in filling graveyards with martyrs and hospitals with the injured, and opened eyes to the reality that people in the length and width of Kashmir were staging peaceful protest demonstrations against the atrocities committed by the state but were targeted for striving for their basic rights.”

Lauding people for showing consistency and steadfastness and paying tributes to them for sacrificing their lives and properties for the great cause, Mirwaiz said, “despite the passage of a month now, people were following the unified resistance leadership’s programs in letter and spirit which would have a permanent effect on the on-going resistance movement and hoped that the day was not far when they would see the dawn of a new revolution and fulfilment of their Right to Self Determination.”

Expressing concern that in some areas some “mischievous and anti-movement” elements were working overtime to give a bad name to the on-going resistance movement by creating discord among the people and trying to rake up communal and sectarian issues, he called upon people to beware of those elements saying that the Sikh and Pandit community of Kashmir were an inseparable part of the Kashmiri society and as safe as we are here.

APHC-m chairperson also appealed people specially youth not to stop ambulances plying to ferry the injured and ailing.

Meanwhile, APHC-m Media Advisor, advocate Shahid ul Islam in a statement has strongly condemned the use  of police action under which it  resorted to tear gas shelling in Dalgate area of Srinagar soon after people assembled to offer Asr prayer on the road.

Shahid ul Islam while also condemning the tear gas shelling in Yuranhal and Batengo areas of Islamabad termed it as an act of “state terrorism”, adding, “aggressive tactics and politics of revenge can neither force the resistance leadership nor the freedom-loving people of Kashmir to give up on their struggle for their basic rights”, he said these tactics cannot weaken their resolve and passion for resistance.
