Breaking his silence on Kashmir uprising, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that his government is following “Insaaniyat and Jamhooriyat” on Kashmir.

It is first time since July 09, when mass protests erupted, that PM Modi spoke on the renewed Kashmir uprising which consumed lives of at least 58 civilians while thousands were injured.

“(It is) some people who hurting great land of Kashmir,” PM Modi told a mass gathering in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.

He said that every Indian “loves Kashmir”. “And for economic development of Kashmir, GoI will help to any extent,” Modi told the rally in Alijapur area of Madhya Pradesh.

Invoking BJP ideologue Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PM Modi said, “we are followers of Insaaniyat and Jamhooriyat.”

Former PM Vajpayee had extended hand of friendship to Pakistan from Srinagar in 2004 revealing his mantra of “Insaaniyat, Jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat”.

“Kashmir wants peace and development,” PM Modi said, “we want development of Kashmir.”

Modi further said, “those who should be holding books have been given stones.” “I’ll ensure that Insaaniyat is not hurt.”

PM Modi advocated “democracy and dialogue” saying, “Azaadi India has which Kashmiris can feel.”
