Defiant people defied curfew in central Kashmir’s Beerwah.
Reports and local sources said that as soon as congregational Friday prayers ended, people tried to take out a pro-freedom rally.
However, the forces which were already deployed in the area resorted to tear smoke shelling on the protesters which ensued in to severe clashes.
Meanwhile, the J&K Government led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti disallowed congregational prayers in Jamia Masjid Srinagar today, for fifth consecutive Friday.
Government has imposed strict curfew across Kashmir to thwart any sort of mass movement of people.
Locals from Nowhatta area in Old Srinagar said that situation is “tight” as forces are deployed at all points, Chowks and lanes.
Meanwhile, as the mandatory Friday congregational prayers ended in Sarai Bala, people came out raising pro-freedom slogans. Similar reports reached from Chota Bazaar Srinagar where people came out from Masjids raising anti-India slogans.
Kashmir is witnessing a renewed mass civil uprising since July 09, 2016 which was triggered by killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016.
At least 57 civilians have been killed by forces while over 6000 persons have been injured.
