Senior resistance leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was arrested on Wednesday when he marched towards United Nations office in Srinagar.
Hurriyat Conference (m) media advisor, Adv Shahid Ul Islam told Kashmir Life that Mirwaiz was whisked away in a police jeep to Police Station Nigeen after he walked out of his residence towards UNMOGIP.
The united resistance leadership had asked people to take out 72-hour long ‘UN march’ from this morning. However, government clamped down with harsh curfew sealing all roads leading to UN Office at Sonwar here.
“No one was allowed to enter the residence of Mirwaiz Sahab today,” Shahid said, “even family members of Mirwaiz were questioned.”
Forces have sealed all the roads leading to the residence of Mirwaiz and no one was allowed to move towards it.
Holding placards reading, Mirwaiz was arrested by police just a few metres away from his residence.
