A delegation of Indian civil society members on Thursday reached Srinagar to “meet and know the problems faced by people”.

Sources said that a delegation of at least members including Mani Shankar Aiyar (MP), Prem Shankar Jha (Journalist), Vinod Sharma (Journalist/HT), MK Venu (Journalist/The Wire), Ruby Arun, (Journalist), Shabnam Hashmi (Social Activist/Anhad), Kapil Kak (Rtd Air Marshall), OP Shah and Mohammad Hassan Ul Bana (South India).

The delegation landed in Srinagar this forenoon and straight way drove to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.

“As soon as the Congress MP Mani Shankar Aiyar and Prem Shankar Jha reached SHMS Hospital, they were stopped by people from entering the hospital,” reports said.

“Barring Jha and Aiyar, journalists were allowed to enter the hospital,” witnesses said while people raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

A ‘press’ sticker was pasted on the vehicle in which Aiyar arrived but people surrounded him asking him to leave the premises.

“We don’t shake hands with murderers. You should leave from here,” an attendant told Aiyar when he tried to shake hands before leaving the spot, a news report said.
