All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday welcomed the statement of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) High Commissioner, Zeid Ra’ad Al Husein in which he had expressed concern over the human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir and sought permission of both Government of India and Pakistan to send their team here to inquire about the grave human rights violations.
Mirwaiz asked the GoI to immediately allow the UNHRC team to the visit Kashmir and take stock of the “worst human rights violations” and killings happening in Jammu Kashmir.
Expressing hope that Government of India would give up on its “adamant” stance and facilitate the UNHRC team to visit Kashmir, he said this would help the international community to know the reality and ground situation in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz asked the Government of Pakistan also to allow the UNHRC team to visit “Azad” Kashmir, as it this would only “expose Government of India’s propaganda on Azad Kashmir and call its bluff”.
Mirwaiz said, “the cold-blooded murder a young professor in Khrew Shabir Ahmad Mangoo, son of Wali Muhammad Mangoo of Khrew Pampore who was dragged out his home, beaten and then mercilessly killed in custody will even put the Nazis to shame. The country that prides itself of patronising Ahimsa is sinking itself further and further in the morass of tyranny, with no remorse.”
Mirwaiz further said, “let the infamous regime know that its anti-human tactics of blocking supply of fuel and essential food items like milk and vegetables from reaching people so that they suffer and are brought down on their knees and taught a lesson, will not deter a nation that has shown such tremendous resilience for their just cause.”
“It seems that the GoI has forgotten the history of its own freedom struggle where in the people of India did not bow before the British repression which though was of a far milder nature than what we are being subject to, but did not give up until the British left,” he added.
