Senior resistance leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was arrested by police on Friday as he marched towards Aripanthan Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The united In resistance leadership had asked people to reach Aripanthan today for Friday prayers and to pay tributes to “martyred persons”.
A Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson said that Mirwaiz was detained outside his Nigeen residence as soon as he tried to march towards the Aripanthan, Beerwah Budgam.
