The para-military CRPD personnel who fired at, and injured the ambulance driver on late Thursday evening had come from Nagaland.

Identified as Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, the ambulance driver was hit by a bullet in his right arm around 9 PM last evening in Safakadal area of summer capital.

Brave heart, he still drove the ambulance by one hand and ferried patients safely to SMHS Hospital where he was given treatment before being shifted to Bone and Joints Hospital at Barzulla.

PRO CRPF, Rajesh Yadav, told Kashmir Life, “the CRPF personnel belongs to F78 company of CRPF based in Nagaland.”

“I can’t say exactly the date when this company reached Srinagar but the authorities of this company are still outside,” he replied to a question.

Yadav confirmed that sub-inspector rank officer of CRPF man identified as PS Yadav has been put under suspension. Yadav shot at the ambulance driver.

“The departmental action has been set in process,” PRO said, “there is no time bound enquiry as the authorities of F78 company are not in Srinagar.”

He added that the F78 company was in Bimapur for rotational training when they were called in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, IG CRPF told The Hindustan Times that police are investigating the matter but departmental action has been taken against sub-inspector PS Yadav for the incident.
