#Day46: Officers Asked To Make Efforts for Effective Implementation of PMKSY

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari has called upon the officers of different departments to synergize their efforts to ensure that the activities undertaken under various flagship programmes are speedily carried out and strictly implemented on ground.

The Minister was addressing the review meeting which was organized here to discuss the Annual Action Plan for the other interventions and Micro irrigation under Per Drop-More Crop of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) for the District Baramulla, an official spokesperson said Tuesday evening.

The Minister directed the officers to fast-pace the activities undertaken under the PMKSY like creation of new water sources, repair, renovation, restoration of defunct water sources and also construction of water harvesting structures, secondary and micro storage so that their benefits percolate down to the needy people at the ground level.

He also called for active involvement of the people in the implementation of the programme to ensure maximum benefits to the deserving ones.

The Minister also stressed the need for organizing orientation activities for the capacity building of the farmers, besides imparting training and exposure visits to them so that they can be made aware of the effective implementation of the scheme.

He said skill development in efficient and crop management practices including large scale awareness should also be done although mass media campaigns, exhibitions, seminars and extension activities at the grass root level by ensuring maximum participation of the farmers.

Bukhari said that the scheme has the tremendous potential to attract private investments in irrigation and increasing the agriculture yields, which would not only improve the economic profile of the farming community but also give boost to the State’s economy. The implementing agencies have to make earnest efforts to implement the scheme on ground to avail maximum benefits out of it, he asserted.
