All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) led Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday said that the “denial” of the Indian state to the “fact” that people of Jammu and Kashmir “don’t want to live under the forcible occupation of India and want to” decide their future by people’s choice through Right to Self Determination, the Hurriyat said, is a basic right which has been endorsed by United Nations and agreed upon by India herself through many resolutions as well.

“Not only the future of India but also that of the whole South Asian region is in danger if the people of Jammu and Kashmir are subjected to continuous denial of their future by Indian state,” the Hurriyat Conference warned.

The Hurriyat Conference said, “already eaten up by abject poverty, communal violence and endless confrontation with the neighbouring countries on one hand, the continuous oppression and suppression on the freedom movement of people of Jammu and Kashmir is going to tear down the future of Indian state.”

Commenting upon the statement of Union Home Minister, the Hurriyat amalgam said, “the shamelessness with which Rajnath Singh tried to paint our movement for Right to Self Determination ‘with some elements trying to mislead some of the youth’, it is again the same denial of the fact that our men, women, youth and children, who are out on roads demanding consciously their fundamental right of freedom from Indian forcible occupation as they have been doing so for the last 7 decades.”

“The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are mature enough to decide for their future and don’t need any lecture from the people who are in-charge for killing, blinding, torturing and maiming them for life,” the statement added.

Hailing the determination of young generation, Hurriyat Conference said, “our youth are well aware of the fact that their future is never going to be secured and safeguarded till the last Indian solider is holding ground in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Commenting on the pellet gun debate, the Geelani led Hurriyat Conference said, “except for replacing the modes of killing of people of Jammu and Kashmir, government of India has never been serious about any kind of engagement for the resolution of dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. Even this time, when the whole valley burning, it is evident that rather than coming out of the denial mode about the struggle of people of Jammu and Kashmir and show some seriousness in resolving the dispute, the government of India wants to debate on pellet shot guns and its alternatives.”

“The non-serious attitude of Indian state can also be gauged by Rajnath Singh’s announcement of the appointment of nodal officer for Kashmir issue as if they want to implement some central government social welfare scheme,” the statement added.
