Intense clashes erupted in South Kashmir’s Shopian between forces and protestors on Friday.

Reports said that as soon as the mandatory congregational Friday prayers, stone pelting started in main chowk Shopian.

Reports said that the youths raised pro-freedom slogans and clashes erupted. Local reports said that forces resorted to tear gas and pellet firing.

“At least three persons were injured who were rushed to Shopian hospital,” sources said.

“One of the injured was hit by pellets and he has been shifted to Srinagar,” a doctor at district hospital Shopian told Kashmir Life.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here said that clashes between protesters and forces erupted in Bandipora and Kaloosa in north Kashmir after Friday prayers.

A massive rally was held at Bandipora which was tear-gassed by forces resulting in the clashes.

Similar kind of pro-freedom rally was held at Kaloosa which met the same fate at the hands of forces. However, peaceful rallies were held at Papchan, Saderkote, Ajas and Naidkhai areas of the district, the reports added.
