Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman felicitated renowned vitreo-retinal surgeon Prof (Dr) S Natrajan on Thursday at an “academic event” organized by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir.
Dr Natrajan in his power point presentation talked about various vitreo retinal surgeries performed by his team at SMHS Hospital recently.
The participants included Ophthalmologists of the district and sub-district hospitals, a statement issued by DHSK said Friday afternoon.
“Dr Natrajan briefed the specialists about various advanced ophthalmological injuries and what extra measures to be intervened before referring such patients to tertiary care hospitals. He apprised them that he will be coming again to perform listed surgeries,” the statement informed.
In his lecture, Dr Natrajan appreciated the efforts of all ophthalmological surgeons of the peripheral and tertiary care hospitals who have been doing an admirable job during the current circumstances while dealing with patients having eye injuries, the statement said.
Before concluding his lecture, Dr Natrajan “respected” the efforts of Dr Peer G N Suhail (Director, Centre for Research & Development Policy, CRDP) and Rishikesh (Border Less Foundation, BWF) for their efforts.
The lecture was followed by question answer session wherein participants interacted with Dr Natrajan.
The statement said that Dr Saleem ur Rehman in his speech valued the commendable efforts of Dr Natrajan and the NGOs whose members were also presented on the occasion.
Furthermore, he discussed measures to up-grade surgical skills of Ophthalmologists of the Directorate which the renowned vitreo retinal surgeon acknowledged in “positivity”.
At the end, the statement said, Director Health Dr Saleem ur Rehman as a goodwill gesture felicitated Dr Natrajan for his mammoth contribution in treating the patients at SMHS hospital.
