Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil is witnessing an internal revolt which has led to secret second floor test.

On Saturday, after J&K High Court ordered the floor test, the 30 member house went to secret voting which were sealed and forwarded to Ladakh Affairs department and will be opened by High Court only.

The voting will decide the fate of National Conference backed incumbent LAHDC Kargil Chairperson Haji Hanifa Mohammad Jan.

Independent Councillor Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan had joined PDP, and the Congress and Independent Councillors had decided to support Kacho in formation of new Council.

It led to freezing of powers of LAHDC Kargil Chairperson and his four Executive Councillors who knocked the doors of the High Court.

Congress leader Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai had been heading the Council before he was elected as MLA from Kargil on the Congress mandate in 2014. After his exit, Congress lost the majority and Jan, also an Independent, formed the Council with the support of National Conference.
