Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Social Welfare and Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, Tuesday convened a meeting to review the progress of works being undertaken by UEED and SMC.

The Minster was informed about the progress of the ongoing works like Water Storm Drainage Scheme and the AMRUT scheme as well as the progress of works on the water drainage and sewage treatment systems, an official spokesperson said this evening.

Seeking details of developments at the Achan dumping site, the Minister was informed that the installation of segregator and plantation in buffer zone would be done soon.

 The Minster was informed that while the department will soon distribute new waste collection bins for door to door waste collection, various places have been identified for the construction of green space areas and walk ways in Srinagar.

The Minster directed the concerned officials to upgrade all the existing dewatering pump stations and install new ones wherever needed to avoid 2014 floods-like situation in and across the valley.

The Minster also directed the concerned officials to take care of sanitation, streetlights, waste collection and other necessary services, directing speeding up work and finishing the pending projects in earnest.
