All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Tuesday strongly condemned arbitrary arrests and slapping of PSA against youths and activists “at will” across the valley and termed it as a “deterrent and to punish people for their association with the freedom struggle”.

“The arrest of Advocate Hassan Babar from Chenab valley, student Rehmatullah and four youths from Ganderbal including a teenager detained under the draconian PSA is deplorable,” Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson said this evening.

“Ransacking homes, beating up people, damaging properties, abusing and humiliating the masses at various places in the valley by the armed forces has not been able to break the people’s resolve but strengthened it further,” the spokesperson said, “mass rallies held in Sopore, Dooru, Palhallan, Qazigund and other places despite restrictions and presence of huge number of forces shows that despite facing tremendous hardships in last 52 days peoples passion for the movement is intact.”

APHC-m spokesperson said, “the entire Kashmir valley, Kishtwar, Doda, areas of Chenab valley, Rajouri and Poonch areas of Pir Panjal region, Drass and Kargil areas of Ladakh region are actively participating in all forms of protest sending a clear message to the people of India and the international community what they want.”

Welcoming the statement of Sikh Intellectuals Circle in which they have pitched for conducting plebiscite in Kashmir, the spokesperson thanked them and acknowledged their courage in taking a principled stand regarding the Kashmir dispute.

The spokesperson also lashed at the authorities for contained curfew and restrictions in Shehr-e-Khaas.
