Intense clashes erupted in South Kashmir’s Mattan area on Friday evening resulting in injuries to at least four civilians.
Local sources said that protests erupted around 6:30 PM this evening.
“Soon, CRPF deployment was returning to Mattan camp from KP Road when it came under heavy stone pelting attack,” sources said.
They added that the CRPF men came down from their vehicles and clashes ensued.
“Tear gas and pellets were fired in lanes and by-lanes,” sources added. “At least four civilians were injured who were treated locally.”
Meanwhile, cops roaming in a police van made announcements that night curfew has been re-imposed in Lal Chowk area of summer capital. “Stay inside your homes and residences,” the cops shouted.
Notably to mention here that the unified resistance camp has asked people to occupy Lal Chowk, Airport Road and District Headquarters on September 3rd and 4th besides holding of protests with flags, banners and placards with messages “We Want Freedom” and “Go India Go Back”.
