SRINAGAR

Thousands of people offered congregational Friday prayers in North Kashmir’s Palhallan area today.

Local sources said that today’s pro-freedom congregation was “biggest”, so far.

“It was mass gathering and people had to offer prayers in a small ground adjacent to Eidgah such was huge of number of faithful,” they said.

They said that later, hundreds of people from adjacent Goshbugh, Wussan, Aglar and others reached Palhallan. “A huge rally was formed,” they said.

“Amid pro-freedom sloganeering,” sources said, “people tried to march towards Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway but they were stopped by police and CRPF.”

The sources added that forces had stationed their vehicles near a government run 10+2 School.

“Some people sustained minor injuries due to pellet firing,” sources said, “but the forces are firing something new today.”
