While the all party delegation led by Home Minister of India is on a visit to Kashmir, a strict shutdown is being observed across Kashmir.

While barricades in city centre Lal Chowk have been removed at many places, there is hardly any vehicular movement visible on the roads.

Since early morning, one could hear only ambulances rushing to and fro from SMHS and SKIMS hospitals in Srinagar on M A road.

Similar reports of strict shutdown and civil curfew were received from almost everywhere across Kashmir.

In South Kashmir, major pro-freedom rallies are going at many places including Pinjoora in Shopian, Sedura and Fatehpur in Islamabad and Vessu in Qazigund, where a young boy Basit Ahmad Ahangar was killed last night by forces.

In Pinjoora, police, RR and paramilitary forces raided the rally venue early in the morning and reportedly injured more than 200 civilians.

“This forced people to pelt stones on police and the violence spread and angry civilians torched mini-secretariat,” reports coming from the area said.

Police ransacked the venue and reportedly barged into the residential houses, smashed window panes and beat up inmates.

However, when last reports came in, a mega rally was going on at the same venue on the refurbished stage. “Tens of thousands of people are participating in the Aazadi convention,” a participant said.

In Islamabad district, two massive pro-aazadi conventions are going on in Sedura and Fatehpur areas.

Sources said that more than 20,000 people participated in both the rallies.

Similar reports are pouring in from Vessu Qazigund, where a youth was killed by forces last night.

“After thousands of people participated in his funeral prayers, civilians marched across the towns and villages and held massive pro-freedom demonstrations.

“Police and CRPF used brute force to quell the protests,” locals said.

Media reports from north Kashmir said that no vehicular movement was witnessed in Sopore, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara areas.

However, at pro-aazadi demonstrations were held in Kunan area of Kupwara and Nowpora area in Kreeri belt.

In Srinagar, a massive pro-freedom convention is being held in Noorbagh area where a school going, Danish Sultan, boy was killed by CRPF when he rushed to save himself and jumped in Jhelum.

Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani was addressing the rally when last reports came in.

At least 74 civilians have been killed by forces since the mass anti-establishment uprising was triggered by the killing of popular Hizb militant commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016. Over 10500 civilians have been injured since then.
