Intense clashes erupted in Pulwama’s Tral town on Sunday when forces stopped people from holding a pro-freedom rally.

Local sources from the area said that youths and CRPF, RR and police men are fighting pitched battles.

“Hundreds of men and women are stuck in historic Khanqah Tral,” an elderly man told Kashmir Life over phone.

“Forces have closed all roads leading out from the Khanqah,” he said, “it is too much suffocating atmosphere here as forces are continuously firing tear gas shells inside the premises.”

Sources said that armed men chased the protestors who took refuge inside the Khanqah. “Forces have damaged parts of the Khanqah as well,” the elderly man said.

He said that many youths have been injured in forces action “but police and CRPF are not allowing ambulances to come towards the Khanqah”. “They are suffering blood loss.”

Meanwhile, strong pro-freedom sloganeering is going inside the Khanqah while some group of women have come to “help them to come out”.
