Forces attempted to foil a pro-freedom rally in Bewora village in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir, second time in the day, resulting in the intense clashes on Wednesday.
At least six people have sustained injuries in the clashes. The injured have been treated locally.
“Around 12 PM CRPF and police men fired tear gas shells, and tried to enter into village but, after resistance from people, they failed,” said a local.
Earlier in the morning, forces had attempted to foil this rally, resulting in the intense clashes in which at least 60 people were injured.
The rally is over now, but local youths are still at the venue and are shouting slogans, a local said.
Meanwhile, reports coming from Burzhama Srinagar said that a massive pro-freedom rally is going on in the area.
“The rally commenced at 1 PM,” a participant said, “not less than 2000 people are attending it.”
The participant informed that people from Batpora, Burzhama, Danihama, Theed, Harwan, Khimber, Chatterhama and other villages are attending it.
“It is being held in Eidgah Mulfaak Eidgah which will conclude at 4:30 PM,” he said adding, “it is being addressed by local leaders.”
