Syed Ali Geelani, ailing Hurriyat Conference chief whose residence was completely blocked by police, on Friday said the government has a “kill list” comprising freedom-seekers, civil society, trade and journalists. He warned the Delhi and J&K governments against going for such a misadventure.

Geelani was supposed to address a news conference that was prevented by the government. Within minutes, however, the text of his speech was mailed to media.

Geelani said the current phase of resistance has un-nerved the government.

“While they are killing people on the streets and arresting them under their draconian laws, we have learnt that they have formulated a kill list, whereby they have identified pro-freedom leaders and activists and those civil society members, business leaders, government employees and journalists, who have not succumbed to their machinations,” Geelani said in the statement, warning them from executing “such misadventure” carrying “serious repercussions.”

Geelani said, in the Urdu statement, that a group of unknown gunmen is being readied for the task.

Geelani said Burhan’s killing ended the “smokescreen” created “in the form of Abdullahs, Muftis, Lones and the sundry”.

Terming them as “collaborators”, Geelani said their only task is to strengthen Delhi by “provide shameless justifications for cold-blooded murder, maiming and blinding of our people”.

The ailing separatist said that even though massive infrastructure was raised in last seven decades, Kashmir’s collective will has proved stronger.

Geelani said the people have closed the businesses, shut shops and everybody is contributing to it. “These sacrifices are the building blocks of the free nation we are destined to become,” Geelani said. “The way people helped each other and remained united during this phase of struggle is a sign that we have already started living as a free people.”

The separatist has insisted that Pakistan has proved that “they are our friends and well-wishers” as they “shared our pain and raised their voice in our support.”

He acknowledged Islamabad’s “ethical stand” of supporting Kashmir “morally, politically and diplomatically.” He thanked China, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, New Zealand, Iran and OIC.

Terming “Indian media” to be “extension of the Indian state”, Geelani said, “our own people are writing with complete clarity of thought and immense courage to portray the truthful picture”.

He also thanked international press for being honest with Kashmir.

Geelani has asked people to strengthen Bait-ul-Maal in every Mohalla and village. “We should constantly monitor the condition of those who have been injured and work for their long-term rehabilitation,” Geelani said. “We must own our martyrs and help their families.”

Earlier, the Airport Road was sealed at main Hyderpora Chowk and bikes or cars were stopped and cops would search for media men.

Using alternate routes, media personnel, managed to reach Rehmat Abad but huge posse of police and CRPF did not allow any one to enter the lane leading to Geelani’s house. The media men were “pushed out” of the venue.
