On 64th consecutive day of mass anti-India uprising, a pro-freedom rally was attacked by forces in South Kashmir on Saturday.
Reports reaching here said that local populace of Hillar Shahabad in Islamabad district had planned a rally today.
“WE were just preparing for the rally in Eidgah,” a local said, “soon CRPF and police men came and fired tear gas shells and pallets.”
The locals said that people from many villages had come “and hundreds are on their way to the venue”.
“Clashes are going on and many people were injured due to pellets,” the locals said.
The injured are being treated locally and one was shifted to Islamabad district hospital. “He has been hit by pellets in eye and was shifted to Srinagar,” Islamabad hospital sources said.
Meanwhile, police did not allow photo-journalists to cover the pro-freedom protests and clashes in Hillar.
“We have been told not to allow media to cover the event,” ac op told photo-journalists who had reached Hillar before forcing them to leave the place.
