Scores of civilians were injured during clashes between forces and protestors in North Kashmir’s Palhallan town.
Local sources from the area said that pro-freedom protests erupted in the evening.
“Police and CRPF men had reached the area and stone pelting started,” a local who wished to remain anonymous said.
“Forces entered the village firing tear gas canisters, PAVA shells and pellets,” he said.
The local said that scores of civilians were injured while five of them were shifted to Pattan hospital for treatment.
“I could not see the face of one youth who was hit by pellets in his one youth,” the local said. “Many youths got unconscious when some PAVA shells were fired.”
