A grenade explosion near the Sherbagh police post has led to various injuries to cops and civilians, reports said. In the retaliatory action, one civilian was killed by a bullet.

Reports said a grenade was tossed towards a parked police vehicle near the police post. It bounced back and exploded on the street and left many people injured. Its bang also triggered a serious disruption in the market, reports added.

Civilian sources said that at least eight persons including cops survived with minor injuries. But police sources here said only two civilians were injured who were evacuated to the hospital.

Hospital sources, however, confirmed to Kashmir Life that one of the injured has died because of the injuries. He was identified as Bilal Ahmad, a resident of Sherpora belt. He was a laboratory technician in the same hospital that declared him dead. Hospital sources, however, said he died of a bullet wound. He had received a bullet in retaliation of the grenade explosion almost instantly.

Hospital sources also told Kashmir Life that four cops including the head of the police post were refereed to Srinagar. One of them is serious, they said. Police in Srinagar said they are in the process of confirming details.
