Pakistan has sought United Nations’ intervention to end violence on Kashmiris.

In a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein in Geneva on Sunday, PM’s Special Envoy on Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Awais Khan Leghari briefed him about the ongoing critical human rights situation in Kashmir.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Special Envoy asked the “Human Rights High Commissioner to take concrete measures to immediately end violence in Kashmir”.

The report said that the envoy demanded immediate investigation of the atrocities committed by “Indian occupation forces against peaceful Kashmiri protestors”.

“He asked for a fair, transparent and independent inquiry into the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani and to help bring to justice those responsible for it. He also asked to assure the right of self-determination and freedom to the Kashmiri people and end India’s oppressive measures against the Kashmiri people,” the RP reported.

He demanded for the withdrawal of the “Indian forces from Held territory that has unleashed a terror on Kashmiris”.
