Asking the officers to speed up the works being undertaken in the Rural Development sector, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari Monday said these have the have the potential to change the socio- economic profile of these areas besides augmenting the developmental initiatives of the government.
The Minister was speaking at a review meeting of the Rural Development Department held here today. It was attended by senior RDD officers of Baramulla district, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The Minister asked the officers to speed up the developmental works being undertaken in the Rural Development Sector in the Baramulla District.
He said that they should ensure speedy completion of the already identified works besides undertaking various new ones and also those which would be undertaken in convergence with other departments like Irrigation & Flood Control, R&B, Horticulture and other related departments.
Syed Basharat Bukhari directed the officers to ensure that they regularly monitor the implementation of the schemes of the department and those being undertaken under convergence so that time bound completion of these is done.
He said that by completing works within the stipulated time we would be providing the much needed facilities to the people living in these areas and also cutting the cost escalation.
The Minister directed the officers to undertake the construction of new playgrounds in the Sangrama Constituency which would provide the local youth facilities to hone their sports talent and also undertake the requisite activities which are very essential for their overall personality development.
He directed constructing 14 new playgrounds in Dangdora, Dolipora, Fresithar, Daulatpora, Chandkot, Waripora, Sherpora, Nelsar, Thindama, Wagella, Hygam, Chaevara, Amargud and Sangrama.
While asking the officers to provide requisite connectivity to different areas of the Sangrama Constituency, the Minister directed construction of new culverts which would connect different areas and villages.
He was told that the work on 25 new culverts would be started soon which include 10 in Wagoora, 10 in Sangrama & 05 in Sopore Block.
The meeting was told that 14 Community Bathrooms would be undertaken under 14th Finance Commission under Swachh Bharat Mission. Similarly works on 4,114 individual household latrines has been undertaken in the area. It was also given out that the state of art Community Facilitation Centre (CFC) would be setup at an estimated cost of Rs. 38 Lacs at Sultanpora and Gabion Bunds at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lacs.
The Minster also directed the officers to undertake comprehensive dredging and preservation of various water bodies and khuls in the constituency.
It was also given out that works on two bridges would be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.5 crore at Warpora Middle School and at Shekhpora in the Sangrama Constituency.
Similarly an amount of Rs 26.23 Lac has been spent under Education Sector for fencing and construction of retaining walls of different schools of the Sangrama Constituency the meeting was told.
The meeting was also told that an amount of Rs 4.48 cr has been spent out of an approved budget of Rs 5.56 cr under MGNREGA in Sangrama constituency by completing 239 works and generating 40802 mandays.
Similarly under Indra Awas Yojana 181 individual household units have been taken up in three blocks of Wagoora, Sangrama and Sopore.
