Para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been deployed outside the residence-cum-office of Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani at Hyderpora on late Tuesday evening.
Notably, a police van has been permanently stationed outside the main gate of Geelani’s residence. APHC ailing chief is under continuous house detention since 2010. He has only been able to move Delhi for medical treatment.
“CRPF cordoned off residence-cum-office of All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, at 7:30 pm today,” a statement issued by the Hurriyat Conference said this late night.
“A large contingent armed personnel of CRPF in armed vehicle has occupied the street at the main gate leading to Geelani Sahab’s residence,” the statement said.
At least five to seven J&K police men are stationed in the van already who have made a make-shift kitchen inside the van.
This is for the first time that para-military CRPF has been deployed outside the residence.
“10-12 CRPF men have been deployed outside the residence of Geelani,” Hurriyat sources said. They added that a cop visited the spot several times early in the day “however, we had no communication (with cops)”.
“And in the evening, CRPF vehicle came and has been stationed next to police van,” they said.
