#Day75: Families of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Leaders Allege Harassment and ‘Loot’ By Forces

The family members of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat District president for Baramulla Abdul Gani Bhat Wednesday alleged that during the night raid forces not only thrashed them but also “looted” gold and cash from the house located at Krankshivan Colony Sopore.

Pertinently, police have been looking for the TeH District President Baramulla according to his family members has so far managed to evade the arrest.

“The forces barged into our house on Tuesday night. Finding my husband not in the house, they went on rampage and damaged the property. They also looted cash and gold worth 2.50 lakh rupees. Besides looting the valuables, they damaged each and everything in the house including electronic gadgets, refrigerator, washing machine, laptops, TV set and ransacked other items of the house,” Ayesha Begum, the wife of Bhat said.

She alleged that forces harassed and thrashed everyone present in the house. “These forces personnel had arrived in the house with a clear intent to loot. Shortly after entering into the house, they broke the lockers and decamped with valuables,” she said.

SP Sopore Harmeet Singh termed the allegations baseless and said no such incident occurred in any part of the town.

Meanwhile, forces on Tuesday night raided the house of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat District president for Shopian and allegedly harassed and thrashed his family members.

The family members of Muhammad Yousuf Falahi said that forces barged into their house in Muloo Chitragam Shopian late Tuesday night and beat up the inmates. They alleged that the forces even damaged the power transformers in the area.

SP Shopian Tahir Saleem said that the house was being raided to nab Yousuf Falahi who is on run. He denied the allegation that forces damaged any power transformer in the area.

Meanwhile, forces raided residence of Muslim League district Pulwama chief, Ab Rashid Dar, on late Tuesday night.

Dar, a resident of Kulpora Pulwama, however, was not home.

“At least a dozen cops entered out home last night and asked for Rashid sahab,” a family member said. “He is not home for many days.”

The family member said that it was third such raid by forces when they came to arrest Dar.

“The cops searched our home but Dar was not present,” the family member said. Dar is father of five including four daughters.
